Frequently Asked Questions

So what’s the deal?

Well, you tell us… what do you mean?

Are you working with the big guys over at…?

Ah, we see… No, this is an independent effort on our own. We are sourcing our own bricks and providing a unique, custom part for the lighting element.

How big is the lamp?

When built, the Splash of Color lamp stands 10.5″ tall. It features a symmetrical base and is both 6.25″ wide and 6.25″ deep. Perfect for a desk top, shelf, end table, and generally any other surface.

How long does it take to build the Splash of Color lamp kit?

That all depends on your experience as a builder! Your ability to organize pieces and follow instructions will factor in to determining the amount of time needed to build your Splash of Color lamp kit. For moderately experienced to experienced builders, we estimate that it will take between 4 and 6 hours.

What is the lampshade made of?

Bricks! The lampshade utilizes a translucent brick to let light pass through. You’d be surprised just how much light shines through; photos don’t do it justice. When the lamp is off, the translucent bricks contrast nicely with the color of the base.

Does the lamp kit come with a light bulb?

A light bulb is not included with the lamp kit, but something like this would be a perfect companion for the lamp!

What kind of light bulb can I use with the Splash of Color lamp kit?

We recommend any LED light bulbs rated between 4W and 15W.

What about the Phillips Hue light bulbs?

Yep, those work! Since the Hues are LED bulbs, we support them.

Can I use any other type of light bulb?

No, we do not support other types of light bulbs. This includes incandescent and compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) bulbs.

What should I do if my kit is missing one or more pieces?

We pack plenty of extra pieces with each kit to ensure you can complete your build. If you are missing pieces and cannot complete your build, please reach out to us with your name and order number and we’d be happy to send you some replacement pieces!
